WELCOME!!
Family, friends, and colleagues, welcome to our travel blog where you can follow our summer adventures on our trip to Kenya. You can follow our daily activity through our travel blog, check our itinerary, see pictures of our trip, and follow our stories throughout our stay.
Thank you in advance to everyone who contributed to our fundraising campaign. We have collected over $2500 through our campaign (dress down day, fundraising website, and "date night" with the lower school). Some of the donations have already been used to purchase 10 indestructible soccer balls from One World Futbol, solar powered clocks and batteries, foam mats for the nursery classrooms, and money has been wired to the school to purchase paint and building supplies for initiatives while we are in Kenya. We'll be stuffing these supplies into our suitcases and bringing them with us to our partner schools in Kenya. Your donations will make a significant impact on the children and families of Sidikho and Chebuyusi. If you would still like to make a donation while we are in Kenya, you can make a donation through the following website.

A SHORT SUMMARY OF OUR TRIP:
In June, 2014, a group of 8 Upper School students and 2 faculty/staff will travel to Kenya for a two week trip combining service and cultural learning opportunities with sightseeing adventures. We will fly from Boston to Nairobi to Kisumu, Kenya. In Kisumu, we will be met by Nelson Kipsang and George
Simbiri, from Mangrove Tree Tours, who will bring us to Rondo Retreat- (www.rondoretreat.com).
The group will spend 7 nights at Rondo. Each morning after breakfast the group will travel by chartered van to the village schools, where we will work on service projects such as repairing chalkboards, building desks, and creating classroom learning materials. These days in the villages promise to be busy, fun, and memorable, with plenty of opportunities to meet and enjoy the Kenyan students and teachers. After dinner, students will have opportunities to process their day together and enjoy some free time in their rooms.
During the second portion of the trip the group will travel with Nelson and George to two safari locations, where we will be able to enjoy some of the nature and wildlife of this beautiful country. Our two safari accommodations have been chosen for their safety and their proximity to exciting wildlife. The two regions we will be exploring are Lake Naivasha and Aberdare National Park.
